The especial significance of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee bells: part 1

SERENDIPITY STRIKES AGAIN !! (Definition: the happy occurrence of chance events.) But when such events are laden with surprising illumination of a spiritual and intellectual nature, they’re regarded as from the Living God; that is, ‘God-incidents’.

This time it’s all about the Queen’s bells!  Or more particularly, the especially significant role and effect they have upon our nation and of which only a few folk have been aware.

Those who attended or watched yesterday’s grand spectacle of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee pageant on the River Thames saw – and heard – a huge flotilla of 1,000 vessels (click to see selection of photos, courtesy Daily Mail Online).

The Belfry barge carrying eight enormous church bells led the procession in one of the most spectacular nautical events seen in London for over 350 years.   They pealed all along the 7 mile route and were joined by church bells ringing out in reply across the City of London as the pageant regally proceeded to Tower Bridge. (Daily Telegraph’s video-article on the rehearsal for bell-ringing gives a feel for their sound. I had hoped the BBC’s live coverage would have returned to their on-board presenter, showman John Barrowman, but his personal video blog conveys a sense of the very deep impact those bells can make.) Open letter to the editor of the Daily Telegraph

It’s very interesting how momentum is gathering pace to make this a special year, not only for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee but also for the whole well-being of our nation. I’m no monarchist but would highly recommend the BBC’s informative documentary, The Diamond Queen.

Headlines and articles within the Daily Telegraph, one of our leading newspapers, are increasingly focussed upon the importance of Christianity in the UK.  (See links at the foot of this post.)  In view of previous posts you’ll no doubt realise my keen interest, and so I wrote today to the editor regarding a fellow reader’s published letter : Continue reading →

A few recommendations

It’s nearly 4 years since a few folk in Hampshire were emailing one another about the Florida Outpouring and which resulted in my keeping friends updated on events, the Middle East in particular. Funnily enough both places are again ‘hotting up’ – but more on that later.

Currently, I’m preparing Nina’s published testimony of healing for this blog. This is sooner than planned but is in response to the ruling by the Advertising Standards Authority against pamphlets for Healing On The Streets – as announced in Bath, where Nina received her healing. (This issue surfaced last week; see below).

One of my aims is to encourage believers to become more well-informed and take a stand against the encroaching antichrist culture in our nation. Hence, my occasional references to the work of Christian Concern, Barnabas Fund, ‘His Grace’ Cranmer here and to several other Christian and secular sources overseas. Continue reading →

Rapid rollover on today’s news!

In my humble opinion and in view of the Biblical relevance of our times, some exceptionally penetrating remarks are required reading for Christian leadership. 
In a single page, ‘think-tank’ blogger Robin Shepherd, Director of International Affairs at Henry Jackson Society in London, incisively but politely castigates the anti-Israel establishment.   Pause for thought, for example, on just these comments…
“Game over. No way back. An entire edifice of anti-Israeli demonisation definitively consigned to the scrap heap, never to be recycled again. This is the uncompromising message that comes out of yesterday’s revelations on Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. To the horror of a European political intelligentsia…
“This is utterly devastating since it simultaneously shows that everyone from the British Foreign Office and the BBC to the European Commission and the continent’s passionately anti-Israeli NGO community have been adopting a position which was significantly more uncompromising on “settlements” than the Palestinian leadership itself…
“In one of its most resentful leader columns for years, the Guardian was nothing short of apoplectic: not so much with Israel, but with a Palestinian leadership which has effectively blown the credibility of the Guardian’s very own mantras on the MidEast straight out of the water…
“It will be interesting to see how this whole affair now plays out. But never again can the anti-Israel community play the settlement card and at the same time retain a single ounce of credibility.”

‘Talks leaks’ a.k.a. ‘The Palestinian Papers’

Dear Friends – it seems the media are going to make a mountain out of a molehill over this weekend’s leaks of masses of Palestinian papers about fine details of the Middle-East peace talks.

Should you wish to get to the nub of the matter this link points out four flaws within these ‘leaks’ : http://www.debka.com/#20582 [NB this link has since been overwritten.]

Debka sources reveal the leaks are from a disgruntled person sacked from the Palestinian Authority’s negotiating support team…‘the expose was clearly motivated by the urge to settle internal scores within the Arab camp and among Palestinian factions’   [A refreshingly brief item compared to the verbiage of Guardian, Al-Jezeera & BBC’s pontificating pundits.]

As January has seen riots in Tunisia, severe internal tensions in Lebanon, calls for the overthrow of Jordan’s government (Egypt next?), then let’s not be surprised if these leaks lead to a major shaking of Palestinian leadership, if not their complete overturn, in February!

Perhaps, therefore, we may soon see whether or not Christian commentators upon the prophesied Psalm 83 Middle-Eastern war and fulfilment of Obadiah 15 are proved correct??

Let’s keep our gaze upon our awesome Lord Jesus.
