Start 2014 by setting our sights right – on Jesus Christ

More than a Happy New Year, may every reader and visitor have a thoroughly blessed 2014; one that starts by setting and keeping our sights on the proper ‘target’ – the Lord Jesus Christ. (This isn’t such a sacrilegious or irreverent remark as it may seem. Its Hebraic relevance will be explained shortly.)

In my humble opinion, when we invite Jesus into His entitled place as Lord of our life then everything falls into its proper place. So I’d suggest a starting point to begin 2014 is in recognising and contemplating His many titles, as prophesied and fulfilled in the holy scriptures: Continue reading

A Blessed Christmas to everyone

Have a ‘Mega-merry’ Christmas, as may be inferred from the OT Hebrew word ashar (Strong’s #833, as in Proverbs 31:28 on the virtuous wife), meaning

‘happy, blessed, prosperous, successful, from original root ‘be straight, upright’.’

Better still is New Testament Greek’s makarios (Strong’s #3107), which means

‘from root mak, indicating large, or of long durationhappy, supremely blessed, a condition in which congratulations are in order. It is a grace word that expresses the special joys and satisfaction granted the person who experiences salvation.’

This ‘Blessed’ is used in The Beatitudes, or the Sermon on the Mount, as recorded in Matthew 5. (From NKJV New Spirit-Filled Life Bible, Exec ed. Dr Jack Hayford)

Be blessed in listening to this superb voice and violin…

Thank you Peter and Rosamund for this clip.

Confirmations of the reality of my visionary encounter

[Our conversation over morning coffee continues with factual refutations of a claim of indoctrination…]

The waiter brings a tray of freshly ground coffee; an enticing aroma wafts around our window table. Taking my cup, I muse over how the Lord would like me to play our time: like a mental game of draughts/checkers or, even better, completing an invisible jigsaw?

Puzzle in Sky by Idea Go courtesy Freedigitalphoto.com

“It’s good you’re able to join us my friend and, to answer your good question about my ‘dredging up’ the past; it’s been necessary to revisit the launch of my blog. Why, you may ask? Maybe you read how its anniversary week got scrambled? Something I’d written about back in 2011 got repeated precisely on the blog’s 2nd birthday?”

“You mean the references to Jerusalem in Iran’s military plans?”

“S’right! That repetition amazed me – and don’t ask about their nuclear accord’s likely link with EU Recommendation 666! If you’d like to mull that over then check one of my earliest emails…” [See Not many people know…]

“I recall your confiding in me back then,” interrupts Steve, “You sure were slow making up your mind and moving from private emails into public blogging.”

“Right Steve. And when I eventually got down to it, I aimed to briefly tell my story in time for the start of Advent because it’s related to that. Yet, I’d never have dreamt how that timing fitted in with how it was to be repeated – maybe the Lord arranged for that to confirm the change was the right thing to do?..and done at the right time? After all, He’s the only real Time Lord. But don’t make me duck the question Steve…

Steve chuckles into his coffee, “You just can’t get away from that daft, dead duck!”

Grinning too, I continue, “After that weird…nay, uncanny ‘co-incidence’, I wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing anything else. I was open to hearing from the Lord on that score. He reminded me about two items put aside at the blog’s launch. The main one is held pending the growth in readership and the other, our topic, had been briefly tackled at the time elsewhere. However, I thought it may prove useful in addressing any cynical reaction to a later, fuller account of how I was set free. Also, it relates to the validations of that story, as promised two months ago.” [See The last day in my life…]

“Hold on, I find some of that hard to believe. Why would God be interested in obscure, minute details?  Couldn’t it simply be your own imagination Richard?”

Putting my cup down, “I understand what you’re saying my friend. I recall having heard in my youth someone claimed to be a Christian because of personal experience. I didn’t believe it because, if God does exist and is omnipotent, then He’d be remote and not be in touch with mere mortals. And, if Jesus had gone to join Him then the same would apply about Him. Anyway, isn’t that why Catholics pray to Jesus’ mother and dead saints; because they were ordinary humans? (None of which I did.)

“What I learned from the brotherhood I joined seemed far more rational and superior to religious nonsense. So, I became intellectually arrogant after accepting the existence of a supreme mind, to which all religions lead. I was taught how to attune and commune through meditation with this ‘cosmic’ mind, which wasn’t like the personal god of Judeo-Christianity. Now and then I’d muse over how such a non-personal being, both the source and goal of existence, could connect with human nature and our minds.

“But when the real Jesus confronted me and I learned He’s exactly as in scripture, then I was able to understand why and how the ultimate Father is very interested in our own well-being and details of our daily lives. So, to answer your point – He had something, or several things, to convey about that ‘coincidence’ to me – a ‘God-incidence’, as I’d say.

“Furthermore, such a grouping of related matters isn’t unusual. It’s happened previously about my blog’s launch – and that again was all to do with timing!

“Look at it this way: suppose you played a game of dice and started by rolling a double-six and then immediately did it again – twice!  The next time you go to the same table you repeat triple rolls of double-sixes right at the start, as before. If that happened at a real casino trickery would be suspected, would it not?  But we know such an oddity has actually happened. Logically, we could infer some sort of guiding hand or unseen intelligence behind those events, could we not?”

“Maybe Richard, I’m almost convinced. On the other hand your banging the drum about this may mean you don’t like that man’s idea of your dream and conversion all coming out of indoctrination as a child. I can see his point…if he’d read your description of your earlier life.”

“I see where you’re coming from my friend. As a Humanist he had difficulty grasping what my previous, totally different life-style had been like, especially with a working knowledge of the paranormal. To me, it made absolutely no sense to relinquish all that. It would have to take an exceptional event to top it and change me. Also, I’m sure he’d know some dreams can be so lucid it seems we’re more awake than when normally so. But no doubt he’d find it incredible to believe dreams can be controlled and changed!

“That’s why I likened the difference between us as his driving a dodgem car and my flying around and into orbit. Even so, I was grateful for his valuable contribution to the debate.”

“Ah, that’s where I came in. I wondered what you and Steve were talking about. Now I’ve got it – thanks.”

We take a few moments to relish our coffees before I resume…

“So it’s now time to revisit the lessons gained in that friendly debate. I think there’s good reason to put it to use in making a clear pointer to the existence of God in our lives, to encourage everyone to know why it’s vital to learn about Jesus and how to know Him personally.

“This year’s seen a growing number of readers who may not be committed Christians, or who may have a non-Christian perspective, as well as newer followers, maybe you too? – all of whom are warmly welcomed.

“What’s more, however, there’s an increasingly vociferous, if not hostile, anti-Christian  posture of secularism within society, as is clear from Gillan Scott’s popular UK blog on God and politics. I’ve found atheists and secularists can have very closed minds. This prevents honest discussion.”

“Oh, come on, perhaps they could say the same of you Richard.”

“Ok, here’s a couple of examples from my online debates: A supposedly open-minded investigator of the supernatural, who claimed evidence for ghosts, refused outright to check documentary evidence for divine healing I’d offered. Someone else, unfamiliar with the Bible and history had no framework for understanding spiritual gifts, although in a Christian community! She smacked me down for being arrogant in referring to facts about spiritual experiences – simply because her community never talks about them!! Obviously, an unusual sort of believers! Or are they?

“Now let’s get to the hub of the matter and discuss data: facts that confirm my claims.

“By facts I mean something more concrete than coincidence or happy chance, or ‘God-incidence’ – facts that refute any claim of indoctrination, or of my imagination, being the cause of that life-changing dream or vision – my unsolicited, unsettling encounter with Jesus. Please bear with me a tad longer on these personal details…”

[It may be helpful to read The last day of my life… for an appreciation of what follows.]

MORE THAN A DREAM – A VISITATION

“Some time was needed to gain a fuller understanding of that awesome visitation. It was so powerful it remains vividly etched in my mind nearly 25 years later!

“The event used two very personal aspects of my childhood to grab my attention. To be fair, they may support the claim of indoctrination. My adversary thought ‘the twitch upon a thread’ had the potential to cause my ‘Damascene conversion’.  But even if that were so, those hoary aspects show the event was related to past reality and not imaginary. What’s more, objective facts prove it wasn’t an entirely subjective dream!  And if it was imaginary of simply the result of early indoctrination how could it explain all consequent events such as being led to similar testimonials or invisible shackles being shattered?

“Intriguingly, both aspects are directly relevant to the 1st and 2nd Advents!  So, they couldn’t fail to enhance my interest in End-Times, instigated as it was only a few years earlier by The Invisible Hand – the starting point of my blog’s Iran-Jerusalem issue!

First Validation

“Inwardly I ‘knew’ the heavenly visitor was indeed Jesus, and that the impressive action was a foretaste of his promised return – His Second Advent or Coming, in all His power and glory:

2ndAdventDiagm_thumb.jpg“It reminded me of my favourite picture in mother’s Missal, or service book of the Roman Mass. It gave full details of every Sunday service throughout the year with a diagram representing its theme.  As a boy keen on astronomy I’d been fascinated by the picture for the First Sunday in Advent showing Jesus standing on clouds over a burning earth in the midst of sun, moon and falling stars. This portrayed events prophesied for the time of His return!

“The first objective confirmation, or validation, of the personal visitation came almost as unusually. During a healing retreat in 1995, one of the ministry team told me God would show me something after lunch. And that did happen after lunch!  Someone at my table took me aside afterwards to confide the Lord told her to show me a treasured photo.

christinclouds-lrg_thumb.jpg“This photo is said to have been taken from an aircraft over a thunderstorm. After the camera film was taken for development the developer apologised for its poor quality – he didn’t know this unusual image of clouds seemed to be of Jesus Christ. Interestingly, the facial features are hazy, not defined, BUT exactly like Jesus in my dream for I had not seen His face. [This is published by Bible Probe. I recall dark, hazy clouds at the foot of the image.]

“Upon seeing this photo my legs gave way – I could not stand but fell into a nearby chair! My companion said I went so white she thought I was going to faint or fall. Yet, just how did a stranger know to show me this photo?  I’d not divulged such a personal dream – she simply said, “It’s the Lord’s doing”.

“Therefore, in my opinion this may be regarded as an objective confirmation.”

Second Validation

“I was puzzled over the closing element of the dream-event. When I reached out towards Jesus’ feet to grasp His robe, it turned into the branch of a Christmas tree which toppled over as I touched Him.  And a fairy fell off the tree’s top and onto the floor!”

“How peculiar!”

“Indeed, but the event was the most fantastic Christmas present. It’s always an encouragement and help in time of need, no matter how dire.

CTree1“Some years passed before a fuller understanding came. In the dream, the corner of the room by the window was where the family Christmas tree used to be placed. So that corner was closely associated with Christmas. In painting pictures I’d put a blue stripe at the top of outdoor scenes to represent heaven, as some children did. But I’d also draw a small Christmas tree in heaven as being Jesus.

“Why?  It was quite logical to my child’s mind for I’d heard a TV actor mention “Jesus” whilst in between fir trees of his height. Taking the actor at his word I’d then draw Jesus as a fir-tree. Hence,  the heavenly visitor in my dream changed to reflect that memorable image.

“The dream’s dramatic closing signified the time had come to put away not only childish misconceptions but also false teachings and replace them with truth – the one who is the Truth in person.

“Everything pointed to a most intimate knowledge of my childhood. Now that may have come direct from my deep subconscious, as claimed in debate. But that just couldn’t explain 3 separate, objective confirmations from 3 different sources, human or divine.”

“Nor could it explain,” Steve volunteered, “The unexpected appearance of a UFO in the dream for I think you told me, Richard, you didn’t take those claims seriously. You’d done your homework and became quite cynical about UFOs.”

“Yes, that’s so. Sometime later, in a lucid dream, I gained an insight into possible UFO demonic activity. And so in the ’89 dream, I exclaimed to myself when one appeared and then realised I was dreaming. To avoid the necessity of explanation, I didn’t quote what I’d actually said because I’d referred to the UFO by using the name of Eric von Daniken, the author who’d introduced the idea our ancient ancestors as space gods. My dream had already opened into a higher realm, signified by looking through the window. After I saw the UFO and exclaimed, “Not that von Daniken nonsense!”, it brought further revelation but for which I wasn’t in the right place.

“Hence, my realisation of the truth of scripture and that I was not IN Christ Jesus. What an encounter, even though it went on to use intimate memories for reasons unknown to me at that moment. But back to the second validation…

“The visitation of Sept 1989 was validated in 1995, but more confirmations were yet to come!  Upon revisiting this story for this blog another 16 years later, I was surprised by a couple of insights that dropped into mind. One was tantalising: could the number of my childhood home (212) possibly be significant in pointing toward the coming year? That is, to 2012!

“Such musing was confirmed by a numerical ‘coincidence’ at the first conference we were to attend in 2012.  The car’s odometer measured the ‘trip’ distance between home and the conference hotel as 212 miles!!”

[See Blog’s birthday and 2/12, 1st Sunday in Advent 2012 for further details.]

Third Validation

“Once again, timing proves critical in presenting another objective confirmation!  Again, had I not been writing about the visitation I would have missed the crucial linkage!

“If you read the installments of my journey into freedom you may recall I’d inserted a report on something pertinent that happened at that time in the USA. This came as a ‘new revelatory word’ from the Lord to Revd John Kilpatrick and began at 2:22am. This is numerically interesting and the word itself is directly relevant to my dream visitation in referring to the angelic host as well as in closing with Luke 21:28, namely:

But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, lift up your heads, because your redemption is at hand.

“Here’s mother’s Missal for the First Sunday of Advent and you can now see how that scripture links into my personal visitation and what pastor John brought…”

Indoctrination claim debunked over morning coffee

“It’s the difference between driving a fairground dodgem car as a child and learning to drive a real car on the open road – plus the difference between that skill and learning to fly – plus the difference between that and flying a space shuttle into orbit”, was my cryptic reply to Steve’s question; all of which puzzles you upon joining us for morning coffee.

Western Europe

I introduce Steve with, “He and I meet now and again and kick around what he takes issue with, or queries, in what I’ve written on my blog. I was telling how I tried describing the difference in viewpoints and experience between me and a contributor to a debate that got into philosophy, humanism and Christianity. Interested but so perplexed was he because, in my opinion, he’d yet to get out of the dodgem rink!  I don’t think anyone not yet born-again, or spiritually awakened, may appreciate our perspectives as we learn to rocket up into the heavens…”

Nero_1We’ve come for a deliciously smooth morning coffee and I suggest trying a tempting morsel or two…  As the barista pours our drinks I explain, “Trips to Calais and Boulogne made me appreciate the French way of starting each day with croissants.  And this café serves them not with jam but real apricot, or crammed with almond paste – yum!”

“I thought Eurostar runs London to Paris non-stop…” you query whilst we carry our goodies to a nearby table.

“It’s easier – and more enjoyable – to drive to the Chunnel and put the car on the shuttle. It’s less than 90 mins to get there, and only 2 sets of traffic lights en-route – amazing!  Going after rush hour means we have our lunch under the English Channel – it’s really weird sitting in our own car eating a picnic under the sea instead of on a beach!”

“Talking of the sea Richard, as you blog a lot on topical news why on earth did you dredge up something a couple of years old on being brainwashed ?”

Blogging blockage and an invitation to you

DSCF5620It was destined to be a really good day because it started with a crashed pc!

Thursday morning/afternoons are full-on before going offline for a long weekend. And something banging around my brain needed downloading – maybe too touchy for gremlins?  There’s an announcement and funny photo to post before refuting a  claim of indoctrination (here) in detail.

So instead, may I invite you to join in an imaginary morning coffee at whatever time’s good for you after 8am here in UK?

Yes, my trusty home re-built pc failed to start – the one that gave me a Gospel lesson in my not connecting it correctly! (See And now a PC Gospel?)

On Tuesday a ‘blue screen of death’ greeted Nina when booting up for her emails. First thing this morning it refused to do anything – just a black, blank screen!  I switched off and rebooted again but this time a screen note appeared stating it wanted to try an auto-repair. So I got on with getting ready for the day whilst it did its stuff. Eighteen successful tests later it reported unable to fix because system restore and system files integrity tests failed. It claimed a patch is preventing system from starting! Maybe from the 12 updates automatically downloaded yesterday?

However, it allowed me to reboot and go into Windows after a delay. But then came an immediate flag that anti-virus and anti-spyware(!) needed updating. Normally, both get updated automatically but not even Norton’s web support’s auto-fix could sort it. The problem needed full removal of Norton security software and re-installation of a new  version!!  It needed a few minutes to familiarise myself with the basic changes but at least my various login settings had been kept safe. So my blogging day got delayed an hour or more.  Even so, it’s going to be a good day…

After last fortnight’s issues with a repeat of UK ISPs faulty filtering of WordPress on top of BT re-digging the same hole for the 10th time since July in the pavement outside, I  shouldn’t be surprised with these delays. (Four homes on our side of the road had their phone lines down after the electricity mains had to be removed and re-laid. At least ours remained operational throughout, thank the Lord).

So whilst Nina and I pop out for our usual coffee and croissants tomorrow, would you please join me in an imaginary discussion?

Lion Bites 10 & 11.12.13

Today’s and yesterday’s inspirational words received from Glasgow Prophetic Centre are personally stirring. They remind me of the prophetic calls about the Jubilee Bells ahead of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Both days’ dates are interesting too. Using standard UK notation of dd-mm-yy, Monday and Tuesday are in four digits sequence of 10, 11, 12 and 13. I’m not attributing any significance to this. It’s merely an interesting run of consecutive numbers for which the team sequentially received these words.:

Fire in your belly and your bones

The Spirit of the Lord says –

“I am putting a fire in your belly. I am reconnecting you with fiery passion and My Spirit, who brings fire. The hot, tangible glow of My life is being gifted into your very core. YOU are My burning one and as I put fire in your belly and fire in your bones you will walk as you have not walked for some time, full of the passionate life that has been so dampened in recent times. Ask Me for this fire and I will bless you with it today. I will bless you with it like you have never known before. It will consume you.”

Matthew 3:11 I baptise you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

One heart, in God

God is ringing a bell over the nation and the sound waves are resonating towards the earth. ‘I am bringing together those who are of one heart in Me’, says the Lord. Those who are open to receive a ‘singleness of heart’ will also answer the call to be as one with each other.

Is your heart in tune with Him? Let the vibrations from God’s ringing bell stir your heart, massage it and make it vibrate at heaven’s frequency. Be one who in this hour is called a man or a woman after God’s own heart, just like King David. And as you allow your heart to beat at God’s tempo, compelled by Him, you will find yourself drawn into new friendships and new alliances with those who are similarly stirred by God.

“My people will look different from each other, and sound different from each other but I am giving them a unity of heart. I am sounding a bell to stir up my lovers, those who will love Me and love one another, those who are of one heart in Me.”

Ezekiel 11:19-20  I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.

Jeremiah 32:39 I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them.

Your Duck is Dead

RJBIrresistibly funny – cartoon and sorry tail(s) go hand-in-glove! Thanks Kenny, I cannot but re-blog 🙂

Morning Story and Dilbert

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird’s chest.

After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, “I’m sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away.”

The distressed woman wailed, “Are you sure?” “Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead,” replied the vet..

“How can you be so sure?” she protested. “I mean you haven’t done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something.”

The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck’s owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to…

‘Radiant Majesty’

Nina’s reference to a trumpet fanfare, actually two,  heralding the Queen’s arrival, followed by her majesty’s entrance to an assembly of invited guests, brought an interesting insight from scripture which I’ll share later.

However, Nina went on to compare that event with the majesty of The King of Kings and asked how we think we will respond to being before The Almighty King of Kings.  Immediately after Nina finished speaking, Viv Dawes  ascended onto the stage to sing sublimely in adoration of Him as follows.:

Radiant Majesty divine

Seated on Your glorious throne

We worship, honour and adore Your perfect holiness.

.

Brilliant light shines with Your power

Burning flame, Your holy fire

Your Glory, Majesty And Holiness outshines the sun.

.

A rainbow halo surrounds You

Majesty shining in Glory

Eyes like flame, Face shines with brilliance

Feet as bronze, refined in a furnace.

.

Radiant Majesty sublime

Seated on Your glorious throne

The First and Last – Living One for ever and for evermore.

The inspiration for these words came to Mair Thorburn without any knowledge of what Nina had prepared months previously on the subject of God’s majesty. Radiant Majesty was completed on 6th September 2013 and is reproduced with Mair’s kind consent.

It’s marvellous how the Lord inspires people with similar messages. I agree with Mair’s opinion that it’s a bit like thousands of years ago when individuals separately heard and wrote the same words from the Lord and which were to become holy scripture.

The above song is best appreciated in accompaniment to the tune that was in her mind  during inspiration: the introductory bars to Benedictus from Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for peace. Hit the play button and read, or sing, those words in time to the music.:

Pause for reflection

A couple of scriptural points are noteworthy in Nina’s comparison of the Queen’s entry with that of His Majesty. It wasn’t so much the fact that royal protocol requires respect and focussed personal attention upon Her Majesty, for everyone’s gaze turns to catch sight of and follow her, and all ears strain for every word, to make sure nothing gets missed. So too, ourselves in His exceptionally awesome presence.

No, it was more the remarks about a trumpet fanfare that gave food for thought over a couple of references in Paul’s letters. On the face of it they may seem unrelated, but not so. One is about the resurrection of the dead and the other is on Jesus Christ’s return.  In concluding his eloquent explanation of believers’ victory over death, Paul writes to the early church in Corinth,

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.  Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed — in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (1 Cor 15:50-52 per Bible Gateway)

In a letter to another Greek church (Salonika) he goes into finer detail given by Jesus about what’s to happen next:

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.   For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words. (1 Thess 4:15-18 per Bible Gateway)

My reader, be blessed as you contemplate these insights…and let the Lord bring more.

On the majesty of His Majesty, The King of Kings

Nina was once again invited to address a Christmas Breakfast gathering of groups that meet regularly in the Aldershot-Farnborough area organised by Juliet Peatling. Our dear friend is painstaking to honour the Lord in preparations, especially in the exquisite way He inspires her creatively with handicrafts, in which she is highly skilled.

And both are prepared well in advance by Him! Early in the year Juliet started preparing cards and decided upon the theme for this Christmas meeting. When she called my wife to ask if she could speak on God’s majesty, neither of them were surprised that Nina had already heard the title and been given what to say. That had happened a couple of years ago too, which was on ‘Peace’. (We were pleasantly surprised upon arriving at the venue to find the colour scheme she used with that matched what Nina was wearing!)

This year’s Breakfast was held in Kings Community Church located in Aldershot. Juliet had decorated and laid out tables with place names and personal presents for each guest. It was as though we were to attend a special breakfast-banquet with our King – Spectacular, as these photos show. Nina’s address follows below:

MAJESTY

“Good morning and God bless you. Juliet asked me to speak today – over 6 months ago.

“I set time aside to pray and see what I should write. Then I put the notes away until a few weeks ago – it was just to look at what I had written, not to make major changes.

“Now some of you will have been at the last 2 breakfasts and heard Mair talk. I was at the last one and, to my amazement, she said two or three things I’m going to say – almost verbatim.

“No, she hadn’t read my notes so she could copy what I was going to say. Neither did Juliet tell her beforehand.

“So if two of us are saying the same thing – independently of each other – I guess that the good Lord has a point he wants to make. It’s something important. So I will leave it to you to pick up on it.

“Yes it’s true, another year has gone and here we are again. The subject this Christmas is Majesty.

“I don’t feel particularly qualified to speak on the enormity of this word. We have such small brains and it is such a big word. If I ask each one of you to define the word ‘majesty’, I wonder what words you would use?

(A brief pause…)

“It is the highest rank you can hold. The Queen is ‘Her Majesty’. She reigns supreme in this country. Hers is the highest title – as a human being.

“I read recently these words describing His Majesty – Our Lord – by Archbishop Justin Welby [RB note: from chat with Charles Moore, who asked him if he knows Jesus].:

“He is both someone one knows and someone one scarcely knows at all. An utterly intimate friend and yet an indescribable majesty.”

“Psalm 93 verse 1 says,

The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty and is armed with strength.

“The description of Psalm 93 in my Bible is quite wonderful; “It is a hymn to the eternal, universal and invincible reign of the Lord”.

“Let me read that again,“It is a hymn to the eternal, universal and invincible reign of the Lord”.

“May I suggest you all read Psalm 93?

“Now let’s go on a short journey and unwrap the word ‘Majesty’ a little…

“Many years ago I had the privilege of being at a champagne reception at the Banqueting Hall in Whitehall, London, hosted by the Queen and Prince Philip. Beforehand, we were notified of the required code of dress, security check and behaviour etc. All very exciting.

“There were 100 of us present, sipping champagne and chatting when – suddenly! – Her Majesty’s trumpeters appeared up in the gallery and heralded her arrival.

“There was more than a hush in the room, the air was electric. You could hardly breathe with expectancy. Suddenly, A GREAT BLAST came from their trumpets in fanfare!!!

“Then a voice boomed out, “Ladies and gentlemen – Her Majesty The Queen!”.

“Her Majesty was in the room amongst us. You did not hear her coming – she was just ‘there’! It was a WOW moment !!

“So now let me take you further/deeper/higher…

MajestyOne day we are going to be in the presence our heavenly Father, His Majesty, THE King – not A king – THE King of kings!

“When we make that decision to give the Lord charge of the rest of our lives we become adopted sons and daughters

“Therefore, if we truly believe that we are sons and daughters of the King of kings, His Majesty, how do we see ourselves?”

(A brief pause…)

“Members of the royal family have status/authority. They are ambassadors representing the king or queen. How do we represent His Majesty, The King of kings

“As I just said: before meeting the Queen I was told what to wear, what code of dress to be observed etc.

“So what will we be wearing before His Majesty?

“How presentable will we be?

“Will we have clean hands and a pure heart?

“Or, will there be some blemishes not yet dealt with?

“Might it be an idea to deal with them/address them while there is time however long time is? I want to face my heavenly Father, His Majesty, knowing I did my best.”

(A brief pause…)

“Was I qualified to meet the Queen? – Yes, I had a certificate and an invitation

“Am I qualified to be before His Majesty – Yes, I am his adopted daughter. As confirmed in Ephesians 1.”

(A brief pause…)

“Lastly, as I close:

“The effect on me of the heralded arrival of the Queen and being in her company was a wow moment in my life – almost life changing!

“How about when the time comes to meet His Majesty – THE KING?

“How awesome will that be, what expectation, what excitement!

“What a life changing second before His Majesty!

“Think about it…”

(Nina pauses, then reads lyrics to a well-known worship song by Tuinfort and friends…)

“I can only imagine what it will be like when I walk by your side.

“I can only imagine what my eyes will see when Your face is before me.

“Surrounded by Your Glory what will my heart feel?

“Will I dance for You, Jesus, or in awe of you be still?

“Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall?

“Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all?

“I can only imagine,

“I can only imagine,

“I can only imagine when that day comes and I find myself standing in the Son.

“I can only imagine when all I will do is forever, forever worship You.”

Was I brainwashed, as claimed by a ‘Christian Humanist’?

Last Sunday was the first Sunday in Advent, the period leading into celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem of Judea. Hence, the four weeks leading into Christmas are designated within the church calendar as Advent, which starts the church year in Western church tradition.  In view of its relevance to my personal journey into Christ, it’s fitting to follow up with reflections upon my life-changing encounter, as promised in the closing paragraphs of The last day of my life…

First however, let’s consider a retort made by someone to the details of that encounter, as published in three parts a fortnight after launching this blog. He wrote,

“I find myself wondering if one can ever shake off an early Catholic indoctrination, to which you were subjected. The potential for that ‘twitch upon the thread’ is always there, and it would seem your [ie. mine] Damascene conversion might be the result.”

This was in response to my explanation that Christianity and Humanism are mutually exclusive, as made during one of several good-natured debates on a well-known but now defunct blog. That Echurch post discussed a finding of the 2011 British Social Attitudes Survey that parents’ belief, or lack of, will effect their offspring adult’s faith. The debate covered Greek philosophy and I’d quoted renowned Bible teacher Derek Prince, previously a fellow of King’s College, Cambridge, and senior research specialist in the philosophy of Plato. (See Humanism: Forerunner for Antichrist)

That advocate had made a valid point. I understand that his mother was Anglican, but perhaps he took on-board the standard agnosticism, if not atheism, of higher education and adopted the humanist, anti-Christian axioms of secular society. His comment may, therefore, have been more ‘a window upon his soul’. That is, the remark may indicate a self-perception of having been religiously indoctrinated during his own childhood.

But not so as regards myself for, although aware of basic Catholic doctrine, I’d not been indoctrinated by that church’s teaching in one of their schools. As explained in the fuller account of my journey into freedom I became most antagonistic to every church and all clergy. Over twenty years of enthusiastic endorsement and willing assimilation of New Age theories, practices and accomplishments had turned me fully and unequivocally against churches. The intensity of this change and rejection of church was radical.

Therefore, this well and truly ‘de-programmed’ me of what meagre, early indoctrination I may have taken on board. In fact, let it be known that my eager absorption of radically  different ideals and beliefs could itself have been a form of adult brainwashing!

In addition, being of a scientific and thus empirical bent, whatever could possibly bring about any real and permanent change had to be not only radical itself, but also clearly and abundantly demonstrable to the full spectrum of my intellectual rather than emotive  senses.

Thus, any proof of that unusual, even weird or spooky, dream encounter would have to be solid.  The triple validation, comprised of curious coincidental  confirmations, of that life-changing event is considered during a ‘coffee-time conversation’ on this blog. It is published in two parts, namely:

  1. Indoctrination claim debunked over morning coffee
  2. Confirmations of the reality of my visionary encounter.

Senior MPs tell the Government to do more to prevent the persecution of Christians globally

This, along with Richard Parkhouse’s comment about Prayer for Parliament, is most informative after learning about the concerns of Muslim leaders here and in Egypt, Kenya and other Muslim nations (as in my earlier post).

God and Politics in the UK

Persecuted ChurchOver the last few years there has been a great deal of activity going on at Westminster raising awareness of the persecution of Christians around the world. Organisations such as Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) and Open Doors have worked with and supported concerned MPs, but much of this has taken place behind the scenes with little public recognition by government. This is now beginning to change. Baroness Warsi, the first Minister for Faith has recently begun to speak forcefully on the issue both here and abroad.

Yesterday saw a three-hour debate in the House of Commons on the persecution of Christians in the 21st century, and calls made by several Members of Parliament for the issue to be given much greater attention.

The debate focused on the persecution of Christians around the world, including countries such as Pakistan, India, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, China, North Korea, Burma, Eritrea and…
