I saw this picture on Twitter. The Guardian journalist that tweeted it seemed to think it was somehow symbolically significant and I agree it is. The Bible in Genesis tells us that the rainbow is a symbol of God’s covenant with Noah, that following the flood he would never again destroy the earth due to the wickedness of humanity:

And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generation: I will set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth [Genesis 9:12-14]
