Interesting contrast re. Black History Month (USA)

Opening today’s DT my attention got immediately drawn to Nicholas Kamm’s fine photo and its juxta-positioning against headline on yesterday’s men. It reminds me of the time Reuters cut the video feed as presidential candidate Trump received a standing ovation at a black church and praise from an Afro-American bishop in Detroit (details herein with video link).

Caption: ‘African-American religious and political leaders lay their hands on Donald Trump as they pray for him at a White House reception to mark Black History month. The US president vowed to deliver ‘abundant’ equal opportunities for all.’

PS. To clarify in view of Facebook remark, in over 12 years monitoring the incumbent POTUS and working of their administration and policies, the above contrast is notable reading.

  1. “Power concedes nothing without demand. It never has and never will. Show me the exact amount of wrong and injustices that are visited upon a person and I will show you the exact amount of words endured by these people. These wrongs and injustices may be fought with words or with blows or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppose.” [Frederick Douglass (1818-1895) American statesman and former slave]
