PS to Neil’s Habbakuk-type Oracle

In acknowledging Neil Mackereth for An Oracle, I told my long-time friend one of the prophecy ministries listed in the Directory section of The State of the Prophetic in UK politely asked to be removed rather than appear with some of questionable doctrinal background.

Neil replies and adds PS to his ‘oracle’ as follows:

Interesting to hear (that) comment – something else the Lord has been highlighting to me over the last few days is unity (or rather the lack of unity) – one would expect a common “enemy” to unite those facing the threat.  So far, Global Warming has encouraged more bickering and dissent than unity. Now, a more obvious (immediate) and rapidly evolving threat provides an opportunity to put differences aside, humble ourselves and plead God’s forgiveness. What an opportunity for Christians to set the example in humility, unity and heartfelt intercessory prayer for the nations.

The other point that comes out so clearly in Habakkuk is his conviction (through the insights God gives him) that God is in charge no matter how daunting the challenges may seem. This is abundant faith which banishes fear.

I am still a “work in progress” on that front!

…God Bless, Neil

P.S. I probably should have quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14 in full and included verse 13.

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people if My people who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.“ (2 Chronicles 7:14)

RB’s Footnote: It was that utter lack of unity and back-stabbing between churches 50 years ago that made me deepy contemptuous of clergy and churchgoers. In rejecting their claims and doctrines I unwittingly turned towards and got trapped in the devil’s domain! Therefore, it was the fault of so-called ‘Christians’ disobeying the Lord! (As summarised in False ‘Gospel’ Lured Me To The Devil’s Door.)

  1. It’s true the Lord calls for believers to be brought to complete unity but it’s also true that some make it impossible when they insist on dictating the terms. They force other believers into a state of capitulation to their ‘leadership’ or force them to leave for the sake of ‘unity’ among the rest. I understand the complete unity for which Jesus prayed is directly related to taking up the cross and walking as He did; loving each other as He loves us. “Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). That’s the beginning of true, Spirit-led God-anointed unity, in my opinion.

Also, the biggest hindrance to believers being reconciled to one another is not only about repentance and forgiveness on a personal level. There still remains those who do NOT repent, but who seek to capitalize on the repentance of others and exploit it to keep themselves in a place of stubborn rebellion towards God. So there’s a point where we need to realize it’s not all up to us, and we are not automatically wrong for not being able to fit back in to a place we had to leave.

I’ve learned this from my own experience with following Christ the way of the cross: the whole purpose is to willingly take the blame for the sin of others (as well as for my own) and then turn around and forgive all concerned to disarm the real enemy who is not even flesh and blood. This then facilitates peace and hopefully unity when others recognize what they’ve done wrong and repent. It give the love of God a chance to breathe and be revived, so relationships are reconciled and renewed.

At the same time it causes some to harden their hearts and double down on the original problems that drove me out in the first place. It leads to a wilderness journey very much like that of the Israelites coming out of Egypt. There’s much to be learned from this spiritual parallel, one of the most important principles being the need to walk with the Living God in blind faith, one day at a time. This gives way to a spiritual experience like that of Joshua coming into the Promised Land and meeting the Commander of the Lord’s army at Jericho.

I’ve come to see Jericho as a shadow and copy of the wayward religious institution named for Christ that refuses to actually walk as He did. The symbolism of the prostitute living in the wall who sides with the incoming Israelites, is powerful. It speaks to me of how the organized religion named for Christ forces us into a kind of spiritual prostitution related to who’s in charge of money and material assets; who considers themselves to be the owners rather than the chief servants; hired hands rather than good shepherds.

As the Commander of the Lord’s army said, when asked if he was for or against the people in Jericho, “Neither, but as Commander of the Lord’s army I have now come.” It was not about approaching Jericho to see if they could somehow find a place to belong; it was about taking down the walls and taking the whole place as plunder for God’s higher purposes. Sometimes I’m led to see some of our organized churches this way. Either they willingly learn to put first things first (seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and heed the first and greatest commandment of all), or it gets done for them. LOL.

It’s not about resigning ourselves to come back under what we were called out of, but about overcoming all that is not of God for the benefit of believers on both sides of Jericho’s walls. As I once heard the Lord say ‘I’m not coming to take sides, I’m coming to take over.’

I hope that little rant offers a bit of insight. God bless you today and always.

    • Absolutely AN ACE RANT my sister. Most excellent and 100% agree with you, for unless we obey Jesus’ command to love one another then we give the accuser full legal footing for ‘rights of access’ to disrupt and break the Unity Jesus has for us all.

Nina had a dear friend from her early adulthood who never wanted to discuss our faith and therefore she was most concerned for her salvation and post-mortem life. I said the Lord knows her heart because she’d been severely abused by church leaders when she enquired about the gifts of the Holy Spirit !!!!

Her funeral was led by the crematorium chaplain but not as a typically Christian committal, although her first and only ‘hymn’ was ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’. Upon hearing that I saw my father’s face for the first time in over 40 years as he nodded to me that Maureen’s ok and in heaven. I got just a flash glimpse of them, but why that song? MY father wasn’t a full Catholic believer (lapsed since WWII) but mum and I would often hear him humming that song upon entering the house!

AND Maxine, this is so well-timed as am about to pm you about a request from someone in Canada…

      • PS – my facebook’s playing up again (it gets confused between my blog’s ‘page and personal profile, which is where I access your FB and can send Messages). So may I forward that request direct to your email, which shows in my admin screen?

    • Having had quite a bit in common with Rahab, though not living on the city wall, I was delighted to find out she was in Jesus’ lineage. It always has and always will speak to me of just how not like organised religion Father and Jesus are and to which I am eternally grateful. A lesson for all. Thank you

    • That’s a very interesting parallel you put forward there. And it’s slightly like when non-believers often mock and say things like ‘Both sides in a war are praying to God and asking for victory etc..but whose side is God on? He can’t be on both sides!’ But I always think (or say) that God is on both sides (or neither in a way)…that is to say, He is against evil on BOTH sides. And they don’t understand that we are also supposed to pray for our enemies, nor that basically we are all in the same boat. We are supposed to defeat evil (through Christ), not defeat people as such.
Probably have not explained particularly well, but it’s fairly late at night and I’m a little tired.
