“Out of the mouths of babes” – Stephen Powell on rapper Kanye West’s example to preachers

Again, what ‘coincidental’ timing! Just after posting the previous I noticed a new entry on Prophetic Releasers community group sharing this by Stephen Powell:

12 Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.
13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”
14 Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.
15 But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant
16 and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants you have perfected praise’?”
17 Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and He lodged there.

‘In this story mentioned above Jesus is manifesting the righteous indignation of God against those who have perverted the faith delivered to their fathers, to those who have made the house of God into what the Lord called “a den of thieves”. This was a scene of righteous anger, judgment, even violence, as the Lord being moved by the command of his Father and the power of the Holy Spirit did what was necessary to take a stand for righteousness and speak truth to a generation that He called vipers (Matt.12:34-37). Notice the ones standing by in the temple singing praises to this Lord of passion. It is the children who are singing the praises, and in this radical atmosphere of emotion, fiery love, truth, anger, and miracles Jesus begins to tell of something being perfected that day. It was praise to this God who just drew blood. It was praise, perfected in the mouths of babes, who just didn’t know any better yet. So they just praised Jesus for who He was. They didn’t know that you had to be careful which attributes of God to praise him for, so they just went on and praised him for who He was on that day, and Jesus said, “It’s perfect”. I hear the Lord speaking this scripture over Kanye West right now.

‘Many are raving about the recent radical conversion of Kim Kardashian’s husband, one of the most iconic entertainers in the world today. There’s a list of things to talk about concerning his salvation and his recent evangelistic endeavors that are impressive to say the least. I’ll make mention of one thing I’ve noticed that I’m excited about: He’s telling the truth to sinners and He’s not ashamed of it. Kanye is praising God for who he is and speaking truth as it is, and it’s inspiring to see, especially as it comes from the mouth of a spiritual babe.

‘One writer for the National Review had this to say about Kanye’s new album: “West is in many respects deeply critical of modernity and cultural progressivism. There are calls for a focus more on the family than on individual glory. He seems to applaud Chick-fil-A, which in our age is tantamount to endorsing bigotry. Social-media obsession should be exchanged for family prayer. Fatherhood is characterized as a virtue. Materialism is pilloried. Calls for worshiping Christ redound to such effect that West’s first Christian album is arguably more Christian than what most contemporary Christian artists could similarly muster.” (Kanye West’s Conversion Could Be A Cultural Wrecking Ball)

‘West’s first Jesus album is being called “more Christian than what most contemporary Christian artists could similarly muster”. Wow! What an indictment against our own. Have our celebrity preachers and artists been watering down the message so much in order to reach the top that now God has had enough and decided to draft someone whose higher up the entertainment mountain than any hipster in the modern church, to use him to say what we’ve been afraid to say? If so, than I say, “Hallelujah”!!!

‘Kanye talks about abortion being a sin, while our celebrities pastors dodge the question when asked about it. Kanye is speaking loudly about J-E-S-U-S being the only way, while many of our top influencers have taken to using the title G-O-D more so as to not offend people of other faiths. Kanye is calling sin sin and calling those who are practicing it to come out from their lifestyle and follow the Lord. In many of our modern churches today, preachers can’t even say the word “sin”, because to them it promotes negativity and distracts people from the message of God’s love. How would Jesus have fit into these churches? This is one of the reasons I like seeing Kanye preaching in the streets rather than the pulpits. I hope he stays there and never gets sucked into a religious system that has silenced the voice of Jesus’ convicting power in the halls of worship in these modern times.

‘Isaiah the prophet foretold that a day would come in which a child would lead them (Is.11:6). Are we living in a day where those who have sung the devil’s praises and blasphemed God the loudest will be used in spiritual infant-hood to perfect the praises of Jesus? I believe we might be. Are we seeing God using the mouths of spiritual babes to praise Jesus for who He is, in all of his righteous indignation and all of his passionate love, because they simply haven’t been taught by the modern church yet that parts of God are taboo to praise? I believe we are.

  1. Sent from my iPad Wow! Halleluljah! Re:- Veronica West’s dream of Kanye West I have been praying the blood of Jesus over him. I thank our precious Lord that He has just the people He wants to use. I prayed much for our Lord to touch the heart of the famous (like many others I’m sure) but He choose His person and what Stephen Powell says is just how I’ve been thanking our Lord. Thanking Him that He choose a man who is unafraid to lift Him up. I endorse what Veronica said of praying for this bold singer, we surely need to pray for him and his family……. Sue Garrett

  2. Halleluhia,
Don’t the angel’s rejoice when even one is saved.
As Stephen Powell says “out of the mouths of babes” because the ones who should know better are not saying it.
    But Kayne West has.!
Praise the living God who reigns.

  3. pray for Kanye – I have seen signs of him being burned out and returning to bi-polar symptoms – in an interview from last week – his mind is (over) full of so much – he *is* a creative genius – and I know he is now a real brother in the Lord – but he needs to learn about rest of body soul and spirit, and needs people who can be truly pastoral/healing in his life – not just teachers
and, be blessed by the Jesus is Lord song from his new album (on YouTube)
