Evangelist Steve Hill has passed into the glory

Yesterday another of God’s indomitable generals was promoted to the heavenly host. As with another general, Bob Jones, Steve had previously triumphed over death but is now with the Captain of the Lord’s Hosts.

The following notice appears on his ministry’s associated website, From the Frontlines

‘Sunday March 9 we lost one of God’s Generals.  Steve Hill passed on to his eternal home after a decade long battle with Melanoma.

‘Steve was best known as the evangelist during the Brownsville Revival that took place from 1995 – 2000 in Pensacola, Fl.  It is estimated that over 4 million people from around the world attended the services and more than 150,000 people made decisions for Christ at the altars.

‘Dr Michael Brown who labored alongside Steve during the revival posted to his Facebook on Sunday,

A dear friend, a tireless soldier for the Lord, and the most passionate soul-winner I have ever known. May we live lives worthy of the legacy he left behind, and may God’s grace flood dear Jeri and the kids at this time of terrible loss. And may all those who were saved or delivered or renewed through his ministry rise up and stand tall for Jesus.

‘After Brownsville, Hill and his evangelistic team continued to hold arena and stadium crusades around the world.

‘Hill also founded and served as senior pastor, along with is wife Jeri, of Heartland World Ministries Church in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Hill founded Heartland School of Ministry, a soul-winning, presence-driven ministry school.

‘His latest endeavors included several websites that focused on reaching lost souls across the world and placing a spotlight on the frontlines of Christianity.

‘Daniel Norris who worked along side as an evangelist and co-host of a show called From the Frontlines posted,

The earth feels significantly lighter today as one of God’s Generals, who carried such spiritual weight has exited this life and entered the next. There is a void to be filled. So much work to be done. We have no time to waste! Let us also fix our eyes on the finishing line and run the rest of this race with everything we have in us. Heaven is depending on you and the world is in need of you!’

  1. How right you are, Richard, to describe SH as one of God’s generals. I shall never forget him preaching at Pensacola. It was biblical, passionate and deeply challenging.
