In order for a person to abide in Christ, he or she must first be in Christ. Although these two concepts are related, they are not exactly synonymous.
Let’s discover what the Bible says about being in Christ.
- In Christ, you are reconciled to God. “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation”
(II Corinthians 5:18). - In Christ, you are a new creation. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10; also see Galatians 6:15).
