Chris Bennett on Ezekiel 34 & 37 – bad shepherds and renewal of the Church

I thank the Lord and UK Prophetic Words for bringing this from Chris Bennett to my attention as I don’t recall anyone teaching on Ezekiel 34 since 25 years ago! It is very helpful to those who, like me, have been deeply concerned with these issues over the past month, and may answer our concerns and queries:

‘The Lord just revealed something to me. I don’t think for one moment I’m the only one hearing this, but this is the confirmation of what’s been brewing in me for several days.

‘The Lord is saying that NOW is that Ezekiel 34 moment – the exposing of the bad shepherds. Those who have led their flock through the wide, easy gate; who have omitted so much from the gospel and from the salvation experience.

‘Those who have suppressed and grieved Holy Spirit, forcing Him to be more a spectator than contributor in their services. Those who, in Ezekiel’s own words, have grown fat without feeding the flock, or who have denied healing to the sick, succour to the poor, and justice to widows and orphans.

‘The Lord is exposing and deposing such shepherds – “THEY SHALL FALL!”, says the Lord, BECAUSE THEY DISHONOUR MY NAME AND MY PEOPLE!! THEY FOLLOW THEIR OWN SINFUL PATH WHILE DESTROYING THOSE IN THE FLOCK WHO DO THE SAME THING! HYPOCRITES!!! THEY DO NOT PREACH MY GOSPEL NOR MY SALVATION, RATHER, THEY LEAD MY PEOPLE ASTRAY AND THEN CAST THEM ASIDE IN FAVOUR OF THEIR OWN EVIL SCHEMES !!!”, says the Lord.

‘Then the Lord showed me a wonderful Ezekiel 37 moment of prophesying to the bones then prophesying to the breath. He showed me the Valley of Dry Bones – the bones coming together. He told me to prophesy over these bones and, as I did so, the Lord showed me the army of the Lord here on earth, the church, coming together in unity once again. As I watched them, the Lord commanded me to prophesy to the breath, as in Ezekiel 37, “Command the breath, their voice, to return!” As I did so, I heard the sound of a roar coming from the resurrected army – a roar of authority and of the power of the Lord.

‘Having watched the shepherds exposed and the dry bones resurrected, the Lord spoke once again:

“I WILL SHAKE MY CHURCH FIRST TO EXPOSE THE BAD AND TO THEN BUILD UP THE GOOD. IT IS THE BEGINNING OF SEPARATING WHEAT AND TARES, AND THE BEGINNING OF JUDGEMENT, FOR DOES MY WORD NOT SAY THAT JUDGEMENT SHALL BEGIN WITH MY CHURCH?”

‘As I thought about this, the Lord continued,

“I SHALL BREATHE NEW LIFE INTO MY CHURCH, MY PEOPLE. MY CHURCH, MY BRIDE, SHALL RETURN TO MY GOSPEL INCLUDING FAITH, REPENTANCE, SALVATION, AND DISCIPLING, FOLLOWED BY THE RESTORATION OF ALL THE GIFTS OF MY SPIRIT. THEN FAITH, LOVE, SIGNS AND WONDERS SHALL BE THE HALLMARK OF MY PEOPLE.”

‘I felt the Lord had finished speaking, but He gave me a final question for all of us – When pastors start to fall, who will shepherd their flock? In this coming season, ‘all that can be shaken’ includes pastors being exposed and falling. Who will shepherd the flock then?

‘I heard the words, “The House Church movement will return just like the first church, 2000 years ago!” There is a hunger for this yet a rejection of the ‘church as usual’ mentality that pervades the body today. It’s the days of personal church meetings – small groups gathering for fellowship, often a meal, a time of teaching and discipling, with occasional larger group meetings when we all get together in celebration. I see much joy, great faith building, and miracles being the order of the day – every day! And evangelism will be rampant – church will be a lifestyle, no longer a social scene, but our way of life IN JESUS!!

RB Footnotes:
  1. About 25 years ago the Lord pointed me to Ezekiel 34 and I thought it may relate to my cell-group leadership’s inability to help me with my ‘New Age’ background. However, my godly pastor Barry Kirk at Tilehurst Free Church (Baptist) kindly encouraged me to seek deeper ministry help.  And so I was intrigued to learn that a recent Ellel Ministries ‘Battle for the Mind’ conference had specifically covered Ezekiel 34!
  2. Note carefully what Chris brings from the Lord on ‘Wheat and Tares’, which we’ve already covered this year – but much more on that in my next, very special post!!

  1. I suspect we all have regrets about things we feel are missing from our experience of church, or in our private lives. One of the advantages of this modern age is the internet: we can find resources to teach us about subjects we do not hear discussed in sermons or bible studies.

  2. Richard do you recall this dream from 2015

I had a dream / night vision  where I saw people sitting at tables with food on their plates, a lot of food. Yet I could see that these people were starving. It wasn’t like the food was bad or spoiled and therefore couldn’t be eaten, the people seated made no effort to feed themselves.  On a platform in front of the people I saw leaders, I’m guessing,  church leaders to be exact and they were fat with plates too in front of them but they,  unlike those seated, we’re eating.
The number one reason I’ve heard as to why people leave traditional churches or any church for that matter is they are not being fed.
    Heb 5:12-14
    Spiritual Immaturity
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
    (NKJVS)
The aforementioned scripture is a rebuke stating that there comes a time in every believers life when he/she should not only be feeding themselves but should also be able to feed others.
The 5 fold ministry is for equipping the saints.  When one equips  someone for a job and they have to come back week after to be equipped for the job then either the person doing the equipping has a problem or the one who supposedly was equipped has a problem.
The church today keeps believers in an infantile state,  purposely I believe , in order to have them keep coming back.

  3. And this one?

I had a dream last night where Jesus asked me this question, ” do you love me more than these”,?  In the next part of the dream I was feeding sheep from my hand and the sheep were biting my fingers and it hurt. I do not recall any of them drawing blood but it still hurt a lot. So what the dream tells me is that love for Jesus should be the motivation for feeding His sheep. I am not sure whether the sheep were biting me because they had not been fed in a very long time and were starving for food or there was some viciousness there, though I did not sense that in my dream. It very well could have been a little of both. What this dream says to me also is that a hireling feeds the sheep for the money but cares little about the sheep; he’s in it for the money. Paul says the following about such people :
Whoever teaches false doctrine and doesn’t agree with the accurate words of our Lord Jesus Christ and godly teachings is a conceited person. He shows that he doesn’t understand anything. Rather, he has an unhealthy desire to argue and quarrel about words. This produces jealousy, rivalry, cursing, suspicion, and conflict between people whose corrupt minds have been robbed of the truth. They think that a godly life is a way to make a profit.(1Ti 6:3-5)
The two things that stood out to me in this dream were the words of the Lord asking me if I loved Him more than these and the sheep biting. The bites hurt and they were biting the very hands that were feeding them.

    • Tony, you’ve obviously never fed sheep and lambs! Re my note 1 – about 1995 some folk from the nearby rural community joined us after leaving an Anglican church and one was appointed leader of a new cell held at his farm, which I joined. He was a sheep farmer and most of his teaching was based upon his experience and our own similarity to sheep. As we’re now coming into lambing season I sometimes helped out in the sheds and bottle-fed the lambs that were mobile in pens – boy, they were so ferocious in jabbing at and tugging on the bottles to guzzle the milk! They were ultra-keen and so the biting your fingers signifies you’re feeding starving souls.

  4. And this one from 2013?

I had another dream about sheep, 01/15/2013. In this dream I saw what looked like a stagecoach only it was huge and unlike any I’ve ever seen before.  On the side of the stagecoach I saw in very big letters the word “ministry” written.  I then saw a driver sitting on top of the stagecoach holding the reins and a very large whip which he was cracking . Here comes the strange part. Every time I’ve ever seen a stage-coach it’s either being pulled by mules or horses. The animals  that were used to pull and keep this stagecoach called ministry going were sheep. As I saw the driver cracking the whip over the sheep’s head to keep them moving, I noticed armed mounted horsemen who also had whips on either side of the sheep to keep them in line. In one sense they were protecting the sheep from wolves but not for the sheep’s welfare. It was so that the stagecoach called ministry could keep on moving. When a sheep would stumble or become wounded the horsemen would un-hinge the sheep from the rest and toss them to the waiting wolves to devour.  I never saw the sheep given a time of rest nor did I remember seeing them fed. I do remember seeing the driver and horsemen stopping to feed themselves and what they feasted upon was some of the sheep used to pull the stagecoach ministry.
This is the word that comes to mind.
    Ezekiel 34:1-5 NIV84
The word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock? You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not take care of the flock. You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. So they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals.

    • I totally agree with what your saying is happening in some churches to a lesser or more degree. Parisheners who don’t know deliverance ministry so they don’t know how to get free or set others free, ministers who are quite happy to tell the congregation what they should be doing but just make them feel guilty for never being able to achieve it because the grace of God is hardly being preached. People who don’t know how to prophesy so how are they meant to encourage each other. More recently there is a growing issue with the ministers deleting certain sin from the bible and saying they were sin no longer, although it all looks ok, it isn’t they have brought a mask on the church which is hiding a false Holy Spirit and false glory which is very very concerning as these churches are loosing their glory but to all intense and purposes no one is noticing as on the surface it all seems the same as before but isn’t. Even Atmospheres are being masked and seem ok, but ask God to unmask and expect to be surprised (not in a good way!) God backed that obversation up with a dream of airplanes flying (symbolising ministries) and then the engines stopping and they fell from the air, but they crashed silently so no one noticed that it had happened and the local area seemed uneffected initially I didn’t realise what God was showing me, but a few months later having found myself seeing the false at a church I visited I finally understand what God was showing me in the dream. These churches were now I think worshipping man instead of God, and the rebellion in them was huge. The irony was that I saw in the dream a minister being removed by his congregation rebelling against him.
